ROCKSTAR4000 launched the ‘TribeOne: Dinokeng’ Festival in partnership Sony Music Entertainment Africa and the City of Tshwane, in the historic mining town of Cullinan, located in the South African region of Dinokeng, today.
This world-class, three-day music festival will be the first of its kind on the African continent, and will be the African continent’s debut on the global music-festival circuit boasting a unique multi-day, multi-stage musical extravaganza yet to be experienced on African soil.
The inaugural ‘TribeOne: Dinokeng’ Music Festival will take place on 26th, 27th and 28th September 2014 (during heritage month and weekend) and will be the centrepiece of the multiple celebrations and initiatives that South Africa’s Capital City, the City of Tshwane, has set in motion to celebrate South Africa's Heritage. As the festival’s inaugural year in 2014 coincides with South Africa’s 20 Years of Democracy, the City of Tshwane will also use this world class music festival as the platform to celebrate this milestone in South Africa.
‘TribeOne: Dinokeng’ is a three-day music festival that will boast an electrifying mix of music genres across three main stages, with over 80 artists performing live on the ‘Thunder Valley’ and ‘Diamond Fields’ stages and more than 80 DJ's playing live sets in the multiple ‘Dance Village’ domes.
In addition to the main stages, there will be more than 50 official staged busking points per day for emerging and unsigned talent, creating a platform for up to 150 unsigned artists. The festival aims to attract more than one hundred thousand music enthusiasts from around the globe.
The festival is set to attract the best of contemporary music talent from across South Africa and the Pan African continent, as well as other prominent names from around the world with the primary focus on contemporary, mainstream music genres such as amongst others Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap, Pop, Rock, Afrobeat, EDM, House, Folk and Adult Contemporary split across three main stages.
The City of Tshwane is partnering with ROCKSTAR4000 and Sony Music Entertainment as the host city to stage this first-of-its-kind initiative in Africa. A unique characteristic of TribeOne: Dinokeng is that it will leverage music entertainment to generate revenue, skills transfer, jobs and infrastructure upliftment for the town and the surrounding communities. Through a multiplicity of skills development, job creation, revenue generating and marketing initiatives, the festival aligns with several of the City of Tshwane’s key objectives and is designed to fuel a much need economic boost to the town of Cullinan.

Tshwane Acting City Manager,Lindiwe Kwele has hailed the festival as a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to address and align with some of the objectives that the city has set forth for itself. "The scale of the festival will draw the attention of Africa and the rest of the world to the region of Dinokeng and Tshwane and set in motion some key achievements for the region such as skills development, job creation, revenue generation and marketing for the city and the region, Kwele said.
Over the next 10 months leading up to the festival, ROCKSTAR4000 and Sony Music in partnership with the City of Tshwane, will be in constant communication, with announcements of artist that will be performing at the festival, social development programmes that are part of the festival and all other developments occurring in preparation for this event, through various media platforms.
