Wife of the Lagos State governor, Mrs Abimbola Fashola, has called on teachers in the state to help in the development of their students in order to make them good ambassadors of the nation.
Mrs Fashola, who said this at the weekend at the annual get together and appreciation party for principals of public schools and directors in the state, noted that that the only thing that separated students in public schools from those in private schools was the level of confidence instilled in them right from school.
She commended the teachers for their selfless efforts in moulding the lives of their students and urged them to always lead by examples in order to establish and inculcate in the students correct and proper attitudes.
She also advised the principals to always take their health more seriously by going for medical check-ups, as well as availing themselves of the opportunity of the free health programmes of the state government, stressing that a stitch in time saves nine.
The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, commended principals and teachers of public schools for a job well done, but charged them to redouble their efforts.
She asserted that the reward for hard work is more hard work and reminded them of the mandate given to them to ensure that their students attain 100 per cent pass mark in their West African Certificate Examinations (WAEC) results.
The commissioner also congratulated each and every one of them and prayed to God to continue to strengthen them and make them joyful.
